What You'll Learn

In the Lead and Support Colleagues Skill Set (CHCSS00084), you will learn how to effectively support, mentor, and guide their colleagues within primarily and healthcare and community service setting. 

You will develop strong communication and leadership skills, gain strategies to foster teamwork and collaboration, and learn how to create a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. 

This skill set prepares you to take on informal leadership roles, contribute to staff development, and promote high-quality, person-centred care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

Units of Study

In the Lead and Support Colleagues Skill Set, you will gain knowledge and skills from the following core units:

  1. CHCMGT003 - Lead the work team: Undertake supervisory and coordinating activities in work groups in health and community service organisations. 
  2. CHCMGT005 - Facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes: Implement support processes to manage stress and emotional wellbeing of self or colleagues. Facilitate structured debriefing sessions to colleagues following incidents. 
  3. CHCPRP003 - Reflect and improve own professional practice: Evaluate and enhance own practice through a process of reflection and ongoing professional development.

This skill set reflects the skills required in many different leadership roles that span various industries, including corporate, healthcare, education, non-profit, and government sectors, offering diverse opportunities to apply your leadership skills. They may include:

  1. Team Leader: Oversee and guide a small team, ensuring productivity and fostering a positive work environment.

Entry Requirements

Age 

Minimum Age 18 Years old

Education & Experience

One of the following:

  • Completion of a Certificate III or higher qualification
    OR 
  • Have skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a recognition of prior learning process

An upper-intermediate level of English is required. Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test to be passed at an AQF level 3. 

Student Evidence 

Evidence of any of the below:

  • Australian citizenship;
  • Permanent Australian residency; or
  • Temporary Australian residency with a valid visa, other than the student visa, to study and work in Australia.

Students will be required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) which is a reference number that creates an online record of a student’s training and qualifications attained in Australia.

 

Language, Literacy, Numeracy

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test is required prior to enrolment as part of the course entry process which will assist the college to determine the level of support the student will need to successfully complete their learning.
